Dr. John Mak obtained his medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine Internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center-Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He subsequently moved to Boston, Massachusetts for his residency training in Anesthesia and Critical Care at the world renowned Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Harvard University. Dr. Mak then pursued a pain management fellowship at the Caritas St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine, where he honed his skills in the multidisciplinary approach to pain management. Dr. Mak is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Management and Anesthesiology. His areas of clinical expertise include treatment of neck and back pain of musculoskeletal and spinal in origin, neuropathic pain and cancer pain. Along with utilizing a full complement of pharmacological treatments, Dr. Mak also performs a variety of interventional procedures such as epidural, facet, sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency lesioning, sympathetic and peripheral nerve blocks. In order to keep abreast of the latest treatment modalities in pain management Dr. Mak maintains an active membership in the American Society of Anesthesiologist, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, American Pain Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Medical Society of New Jersey. Dr. John Mak comes highly recommended by his peers and associates for his technical skills in interventional procedures, as well as his outstanding work ethic, clinical judgment and gentle nature with patients. He is a valuable addition to the NJCPM since July of 2007. Dr. Mak currently lives in Monmouth County with his wife and twin boys. |
